2018 Color Trends

Each year, the Pantone Color Institute chooses a “Color of the Year,” which trends in various arenas-home fashions, beauty, and even the automotive industry. This year’s choice was PANTONE Ultra Violet, a vibrant hue that’s bound to liven up the color space. At Windo VanGo serving the greater Baltimore area, many of our clients love to keep up with the trending colors and want ideas about how to add them to their homes. If you’re interested, speak with one of our representatives today.

Get to Know Ultra Violet

Described as “optimistic” and “empowering,” Ultra Violet evokes a sense of living outside the box, finding new ways to interpret the world. Long a symbol of unconventionality, counterculture icons such as Prince and David Bowie boldly brought various purples as a personal expression of their individuality. “The Pantone Color of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today,” noted Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute. Many yoga studios and meditation centers rely on violet light, which some people feel offers healing powers. And we’re even seeing more acceptance of purple-hued veggies like cauliflower and potatoes. Ultra Violet leans more blue than red, which brings out more of the “thoughtfulness” of the color, but the passion of red still lies underneath.
